Cosmic Cow Pie: Connecting the Dots

Half Way Through 2010, How's That Workin For Ya?

Half Way Through 2010, How's That Workin For Ya?

Have you created some plans, set some objectives or identified goals for 2010 and are you on track?

The mid point of the year just past and it IS time to look at your strategy to assess how it is working.

Looking at the 2010 plan:

  1. What is working?  Keep doing that!
  2. Do the financial outcomes need to be adjusted?
  3. What needs to be changed in the strategy to accomplish your objectives or goals?
  4. What is not working?  Stop doing it and take it off the list!
  5. Do you know what really makes you tick?  Is that your passion?
  6. Are you living your passion?
  7. How can you live your passion?
  8. Is Plan A really working?
  9. Could Plan B possibly be a much better alternative?

NOW is the perfect time to start to get a jump on 2011 and practice if you didn't have a plan.

Nothing gets better without practice.

Start with your specific values, then create a plan to get you where you want to go.

Value concepts to consider incorporating in the new direction:

  • Family
  • Health
  • Financial
  • Spiritual
  • Education
  • Retirement

If your family is important to you do you have all the school games or activities in your calendar, Birthdays, Anniversaries, vacation?  If family is your priority then make them first on the list of things to do.  Make these days or times NON NEGOTIABLE Items.

Is Health important to you?  Does exercise fit into your game plan to achieve better movement or weight?  Put it on the calendar and stick to the plan.

It is your life so take control and have your activities reflect what is important to you.

Do you need to prospect to find more buyers?  What is your plan?

Here  is a "Cow Tip" from Carra: Last week I walked down Rt. 66 with a flyer on my new listing describing a great financing opportunity with Bond Money in Arizona where a buyer can get in with as little as $1,000 down.

I have two buyer prospects from doing the basics. Eyeball to eyeball seeing the people!  What did they like?  The fact the home had the special financing, a huge detached garage along with the fact I was out on the street selling real estate.

STOP now.  Write in a specific time to assess what you need to do today. this week, this month and the rest of the year.

You are in charge of you and your time!  Don't ever be fooled into thinking you can't say "NO, not now, it works better for me at this time." Think about how you wait for an attorney, a doctor or an accountant.  Busy people have time schedules and they stick to them working clients in in the slots they have available.

Get a partner to be accountable to!

If you create the plan you need to WORK the plan and make sure you stay on track!

                                                   Bright colors

                                                       Celebrate planned direction!

Well, so far I have maintained my weight. . . but that's about it! ;) Thanks for the great post! We all need to be reminded to stop and evaluate where we are with our goals.

Phly ~  Love your name!  Makes me feel good just reading it!  Happy to hear things are on track with the weight!

Timely reminder, Carra, with half the year over already. I plan to schedule an R&R (review and reflect) day every quarter, but must admit it gets left in the dust too often.

Tomorrow, however, I've earmarked for that important task. I'll be heading off-site, to the main public library in San Francisco, an awesome building about 30 minutes away from home and office. I find putting physical distance between me and all the tasks at hand helps me focus on my business assessment and planning.

First quarter good, second quarter . . . revamping.  And you're right.  What is important?  Many things that don't equate to others, but are important to me and family!

Howdy and afternoon to you Carra

I am in the middle of making some changes, but I can't put them my comment at this time. Exercise is under control, I still do the same as I did in the service. I get up at 3:30 A.M, run 12 miles, and then do 100 pushups, 50 pullups and so on. My lady tells me, that she gets tired just thing about my morning routine.

Thank you mighty kindly, for this highly important post to think about.

Have a good one

Good post Carra.  Sometimes you make the plans but if you aren't following through then they are worthless.

Carra, GREAT post and THANKS for the reminder!  We allow our "busyness" to over take our plans that we have made for our "business" and then we are off course.  I too put family first so it is very important for me to write down my plans and review them often.

Posted by Alicia Stukes, GRI, CDPE, Notary (Exit 1 Stop Realty) about 10 years ago

Excellent reminder!  Just had this discussion yesterday -- guess now I'll have to get with it!  I have always been much more effective and well-balanced with a good business plan in place.  That took a backseat when the market was hopping and I'm embarrassed to say I got lazy about "exercising" core items.  Thanks!

Business has been so great this year that I'm reaching my saturation point. I can see the writing on the wall, so I am talking with an agent on Saturday about taking over part of my business. Because if it doubles again next year, like it's been doing over the past few years, I'll be on the burnout path. I have to sleep sometime.

Ron and Alexandra ~ taking time off is a MUST.. burn out is not an option!  Congrats on your group!  You are certainly touching the world!

Gregory ~  "when you are thrashing about trying to keep your head above water." is exactly the time to plan or Make a NEW Plan.... it could be that PLAN B needs to replace the existing plan and that is perfectly ok... the entire world is changing to plan B in one way or another...... could be that working your passion is a possibility now... so look at this engagement as the perfect time to take even 1 hour to evaluate your direction.  Thanks so much for your comment.. it really means a lot and is exactly part of the message I was sending.  Thank you again.

So far things are going well -- I'm about 10% over my 2Q real estate target and think that this will be my best year in the business.  On the flip side, I'm sleep deprived, vacation-deprived and probably not taking the best care of myself.  Thanks so much for your reminder to focus on HEALTH, FAMILY & CONTROL!  :-)

Hope you have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2010!

You're on a roll with all these featured posts! Congratulations!

I have a five-year plan which I broke down into years, months, weeks, days, and hours. By working the days and hours persistently and consistently, the weeks, months, and years just fall naturally into place, so I don't have to make any major changes to anything. Just a little something here or a little something there sometimes.
