Cosmic Cow Pie: Connecting the Dots

A Funny Thing Happened on Rt. 66

A Funny Thing Happened on Rt. 66

June 11-13, 2010 the Arizona H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) Rally was held in Williams, Arizona.

Bikers were in town from all over the world and the Williams, Arizona was alive with the sound of booming engines.Carra selling on Rt. 66  I was "working the street" with a book signing event in front of my favorite Rt. 66 restaurant, the Grand Canyon Coffee and Cafe. I purchased a Biker "wannabe" vest to fit in see what would happen as I sold my book and buttons on the street.

I had lots of fun meeting the most exciting people just wanting to soak in the magic of Rt. 66.

As the day finished up a couple inside the Grand Canyon Coffe & Cafe  stopped me as I was putting my sign away for the next day.  We started talking about what I did as an author and a consultant for small business and real estate.  I explained that I really helped buyers and sellers "vet" real estate agents across the country and helped them connect the real estate dots in a transaction.

The couple explained to me they were selling their home "For Sale By Owner" because they had an unpleasant experience in the past... you know the story.  I explained to them that the real estate sales transaction needed to be team work as the market was such that the messenger cannot be responsible for a market created by so many external factors.

Long story short.... they asked me over to see their home and what I thought.  I did a market analysis before I went and thought this would be the perfect opportunity for me to implement all the ideas being expressed in today's social media/blog/video marketing world and put them to use to SELL the home.  The sellers have allowed me to "PRACTICE what I TEACH" and I need your help to sell this great property. I felt there was a strong message here in that talking with people about real estate is easy to do no matter what you are doing.  I worked the beach when I lived in Hawaii making sand castles with my daughter so this encounter on Rt. 66 just proved to me again, that networking is networking no matter what you do. People LOVE to talk about real estate so being prepared to share what you do and how you do it never changes.

I explained to the owners, I had not been actively working with buyers or sellers as a "one on one" agent for almost two years as I have been working the consulting business.  We decided I would work with them to sell this house as a TEAM. They understood that I would be working with them as a test basis in implementing the 21st century marketing tools to sell their home.  They gave me permission to blog about the experience using their home as an example.

I created a facebook fan/like page for Williams, Arizona real estate. I have taken screen shots of the step by step process to be able to post later.  I was so exctied to get 28 new likes/fans in the first 6 hours to be able to connect with agents across the country on a real estate specific page and share what was going on in other parts of the country. I invite you to "like" my real estate page and favorite the page.  I will do the same with your page so we can connect and cross post.  I created a youtube channel for Williams Arizona video.  I moved some of my "localism" videos over to the new channel to create a snap shot of Williams, Arizona.  I created a category on Flickr for pictures of the listing and galleries on facebook about Williams and the property.

You're gonna have a lot of fun with this -- learning and sharing while 'gittin' 'r done' and helping restore the sellers' faith in our industry. They just needed a great agent!

And I LOVE the vest! :)

Candyland ~ Thanks it is going to be a lot of fun and we WILL get the home sold.... it is a LOT of work to create all the digital marketing as you know so well.  Got my youtube WilliamsArizona1 site up with 10 Williams videos and got Williams and the house photo sets organized on Flickr. Set up the facebook fan/like page for Williams with photo galleries and ready to rock. Come over to the like page and post your fan/like page and share your Colorado River info in Ft. Mohave.  I want to create a networking site on the page showing agents who are out there marketing in their properties so we can help one another.  Glad you liked the vest!

Wow, you have a lot of momentum going here.  Congratulations on getting to show your clients how this social media things works.  And double congratulations on mastering the Facebook Page so efficiently.  That is not easy.

Jane ~ It took mega hours to get it set up but once it is set up the next should be easy just like a template.  Do you have them all going?  My goal was to work the tools and SELL the house along with helping others get set up using social media. I think each tool should be one post and how it fits together.

Fabulous!  Will have to check out the links, etc.  I wanted to comment that you newer know where that next client will come from.  I attended a chamber of commerce event last week here in Phoenix.  End results, several contacts and 3 new clients I'm now working with, just by taking a few minutes and having a real conversation with people.  Love this business!

Ken ~  that is the truth.. you never now where the next client comes from.. so always sharing what you love (real estate) is a key to helping a buyer or seller achieve their goals.
