Facebook Announces New Social Plugins for Websites and Blogs

Facebook recently announced several new social plugins for websites and blogs.  Developers at Facebook created some pretty interesting new ways to engage your page visitors by creating the following plugins that you can add to your website or blog with ease.  These social plugins include:

Facebook announces new social plugins for websites and blogs

Like Button - Add this like button to any page and any Facebook user who happens to visit this page can share it on their Facebook profile with the click of a button.

Recommendations - Gives your visitors personalized recommendations for pages on your site that might be of interest to them.

Login with Faces - Allows your visitors to view profile pics of their friends who have already joined your site as well as a login button.

Comments - Allows anyone to leave a comment about your page, blog, blog post or whatever you attach it to and then share the comment on their Facebook wall as well as their friends' streams.

Activity Feed - View the most recent activity on any domain you specify.  If a user is logged in to Facebook at the time they view the Activity Feed plugin, they will see content from their friends.  If they are not logged in to Facebook, they will see the feed from your site and have the option to log in to their account if they wish.

Like Box - Allows viewers to see how many people already like the page, which of their friends like it, read recent page posts and like the page without having to visit it.

Facepile - Shows profile pics of all the viewer's friends who have signed up for your page.

Live Stream - Great plugin when running a live event: webinar, webcasts, etc.  Allows users to post comments in real time.

This is exciting news for all Realtors®!  With Facebook announcing new social plugins for website and blogs, you now have a fun way to engage your audience and share your information on an even wider scale than ever before.  If you need any help, make sure to contact your virtual assistant.  They will be able to help you implement any of these neat new plugins.

Pamela...I am so-o-o far behind in FB that it is better that I not go there. Though did hear today that many folks- that are not teens- are using their profiles as Business info. Since I am a non-FB  person that does not really make sense to me except in concept.  The things that you posted will make perfect sense to up-to-date AR persons.
Better that I just read about it than try to do it.  Twitter stills makes me wonder why I have an account there?

Very impressive selection of plugins. I find that I spend so much time on AR that Facebook doesn't get much attention. I guess I should try to balance my time more between the two. I wonder how many agents actually pick up business from Facebook.

Pam,

This is very fascinating. I have bookmarked your earlier posts about Facebook and will bookmark this one as well.

It doesn't look like I'll have time until after to the Spring market to activate a Facebook page and customize it as you suggest.

Hi Linda and Courtney - Yes, very cool.  Facebook is obviously acutely aware of its competition and doesn't want to lose their edge.

Hi Barb and Sal - Facebook is only one of many ways to promote yourself and your business as well as share your knowledge and skills with others.  Since you are Realtors(R) and not social media experts, your feelings are well understood.  Sounds like this is the perfect time for you to look into outsourcing some of the tasks you don't want to deal with.

Hi John - Social media marketing does take a lot of time.  Staying current with trends and opportunities takes even more.  Speaking for myself, I can say that social media marketing is a definite plus in my online marketing plan.

Hi Brian - Glad to hear you've bookmarked my posts.  I would suggest that you get started on your Facebook account asap.  You could possibly be missing out on some very solid opportunities.  Let me know if you need help.

Hi Carra - It never ends, does it?  Good thing I have an exceptional team of REVAs helping me stay current.

I haven't been on my Facebook page in months.  I will have to check out the new changes!

The new additions are awesome and will be of a great benefit. Utilization is key.

I am in the process of building a FB fanpage.  This will definitely help.

Wow!  I can't wait to try the live stream.  The changes will be useul in so many ways.

I've been on Facebook for about eight months now and still can't decide whether or not I like it. I sure get a lot of spam from it, though.

Hi Debra - I would suggest setting aside 10 or 15 minutes a day to check into your Facebook account.  Might as well check Twitter and LinkedIn, too.

Hi Crystal - You should know!  I really enjoyed reading your eBook about Facebook - Profiles and Fan Pages for Realtors(R).

Hi Tammie - Good for you!  And, don't forget to add the new Roost.com widget for your market.  It will create a Market Trends Report, Community page and more automatically with just a few clicks.

Hi Jim - I guess a little patience and persistence is necessary.  I have received leads from Facebook.  My clients are telling me they do, too.

Posted by Pamela Cendejas, Second Self Virtual Assistance (928) 692-3235 (Second Self Virtual Assistance) about 10 years ago

I am on Twitter and Linkedin all the time.  I can't seem to find the time for Facebook.  I make the time for the others because it all relates to my business.  I know others say they have gotten leads from Facebook but when I was spending time there I never did hence moving away from it.

Hi Debra - There's some really great real estate apps you can use on your Facebook account.  Roost.com has one that provides a Market Trends report, community info and other overview information.

Posted by Pamela Cendejas, Second Self Virtual Assistance (928) 692-3235 (Second Self Virtual Assistance) about 10 years ago

I added that to my account after you suggested it but it doesn't seem to have the right totals.  Do you just add it or do you have to do something else?  Thanks Pam!  Any other good apps?

Posted by Debbie Walsh, Hudson Valley NY Real Estate 845.283-3036 (Shahar Management) about 10 years ago

Hi Debra - Are you talking about the Roost app?

Posted by Pamela Cendejas, Second Self Virtual Assistance (928) 692-3235 (Second Self Virtual Assistance) about 10 years ago

Yes   :-)

Posted by Debbie Walsh, Hudson Valley NY Real Estate 845.283-3036 (Shahar Management) about 10 years ago

Hey Debra - The app shows up according to the information you create in the set-up.

Pam,

Great Post.  I definitely need to checking into the Facebook Plugins.

Thanks for sharing,

Hi Matt - It makes it so much easier to have all the plug-ins listed in one place, doesn't it?  Good luck with adding them to your Facebook account.
