Are you having trouble adding video to your Active Rain profile? Adding video to blogs is pretty simple (thank you, James Shiner). Adding them to your nav bar is realtively stress-free, just needs a little tweaking of the embed code. And even adding videos to your comments is quite easy (thanks, Active Brad and Jeremy Blanton). So, adding a video to your Active Rain profile should take no time at all, right? Well, imagine my surprise when I tried adding video to a client's profile and got the dreaded little white box with a red X in it. Noooooo!!! What am I doing wrong? I went into my profile and added a video without incident. So, I tried to do it on my client's profile again. Damn red X! Sometimes, it simply deleted the code altogether and I was left with blank space. What the heck is going on?
I tried getting an answer through a blog search. Nothing. I tried getting an answer from customer support. No such luck. They weren't having any problems with it. I thought, Active Brad will have the solution! So, I emailed him. Before I could hear back from him, it suddenly dawned on me what might be the issue. I have Internet Explorer and Mozilla on my computer and go back and forth between both all day long. When editing a website, some companies will only allow you to use IE, some will only allow you to use Mozilla and some allow you to use both. I used Mozilla to add video to my AR profile. However, I had been using IE to add video to my client's profile. While IE allows you to add video to your blog posts and nav bar without any issue, it will not allow you to add it to your AR profile. Something gets lost in translation. Once I switched to Mozilla, it was a matter of simply adding the embed code and Voila!
So, if you are having trouble adding video to your Active Rain profile and use a PC, try switching to Mozilla. IE will just leave you wanting more.
