That was some demonstration with the cups. It kinda reminds me, when my son was 8 years olds, he could do rubiks cube in 1 minute or less. I see these children TEXT, and do all the new electronic gadgets at such a young age and it blows my mind. We didn't learn to type until 9th grade and now they are using computers in grade school. I guess I needed your pep talk, because I need to twitter, facebook, linkedin etc., and I have been hesitant to jump in. Thank you

Carra- I'm sure he'll be successful in life too. :)  And he's adorable to boot.  Really a great post.  I've got my big toe in the water and I'll eventually be fully involved.  I'm taking baby steps.

Larry,

I am so happy to hear you are jumping in!  It really is just about practice...many times we don't want to do it... I know I have to have self talks all the time... I have to do it or I'll be left in the dust!  The kids dust!  So let's connect when you get set up... come and practice on my wall or tweet away!  It's all kind of fun once you get the hang of it... the communication is so fast!  Pep talk!  I like that.

Tammy,

Baby steps are good... that is were we all start... just have to get in the game... the TV stations, radio stations and all the big corporations are training the public for us... they say... go to our fanpage... send us a tweet... the hard part of getting the consumer to go to social media is being done for us... so all we have to do is show up and be there with them.... tweet our blogs... they will get the message!  Today I signed up for  http://www.localtweeps.com/Tweep/CarraRiley  this allows you to search for people on Twitter that have the same zipcode or City!  Makes it easy to find people you can tweet with in your area!

Carra,

You are SO right, ya gotta start somewhere.  I am learning everyday and know that I need to continue doing that.  Just when I get Twitter, LinkedIN, Facebook figured out, they'll be more and more new things to learn.

No wonder I am a bit tired:-)

All the best, Michelle

Carra,  I enjoyed the video.  He makes it look so easy.  And practice is important, but we need to practice perfectly, so we get the perfect results.

Michelle ~ The good thing is that you are embracing the change and know it changes... it actually changes everyday... so all we can do is just try our best!

Dawn~ Practice perfectly!  that is one high bar Dawn!  But a good one!

Anna Banana ~  Thank you so much!  Hope it helps people feel better about just starting and knowing we are not usually good till after we practice!

Carra - I think some agents get embarassed because they don't know something - but  heck - none of us did when we first started.  And now there's the whole net scene - I can't tell you how many agents I talk to that are scared to death of getting started. And as we know - all they need to do is just get started and then practice away!!

Carra:

Success leaves clues! All top level performers have paid a price (practice and time) to get to the top.

Anna ~ When I was new and had new agents, I always told them to say they were new and that if they did not know the answer they would find out... the same with social media... it is even fun when you say you are learning and can learn together... it changes every single day... they change the format of facebook all the time... so learning new is not something to hide... it is something to be proud you are doing and wanting to help others along the way.  Just my thoughts.

Ty ~ Practice and time to get to the top!  Great concept to embrace Thanks Ty!

Carra,

Good video. There are few things that can't be improved with a little practice.

Carra -

Practice practice practice! You can never get better at most things in life without practice!

Social media is no exception. It's easy to be intimidated by this paradigm shift in our business...only by sitting ourselves down, and taking the time to learn these things via webinars and just messing around w/a FB fan page, etc. until we understand what's going on....will our fears be replaced by a modicum of confidence.

And guess what? It's FUN!!

Carra, you somehow seem to get everybody involved. What a motivator. Too bad that kid didn't have an x-box or WII like most other kids his age. Must have been one very funny look on his face when he opened up his Birthday/Christmas pressent and wondered why he only got cups. Thanks for sharing

That was a great video Carra! He makes it look way to easy. Just goes to show what practicing can do.

Ed ~  you are so silly!  He loved the cups.. you see his big brothers do it and they leaned it at an after school program.. he did not want to be left behind!  Competition was the motivator! btw.. he does have an xbox a wii and guitar hero!  plus a fake cell phone.. he has it all!

Jackie ~ I think it says we can all learn what we want to... cup stacking... not so sure... but I could if I practiced!

Carra- I think you need to write a post about that tweet thing and tell everyone how and how easy it is to sign up .

Posted by Tammy Lankford,, Broker GA Lake Sinclair/Eatonton/Milledgeville (Lane Realty Eatonton, GA Lake Sinclair, Milledgeville, 706-485-9668) over 9 years ago
So Tammy... are you tweeting? Are we connected? YES, you should write it up and let people know how easy it is! That would be great!
