Cosmic Cow Pie: Connecting the Dots

Create Better Company Connections With Chatter

Click here to visit the Chatter networkAs you all know by now, I am always on the lookout for the latest and greatest ways to use technology to further both my business and yours.  So, when I learned about this awesome new program, I simply had to share it with you.  I have found a way to create better company connections with Chatter.

Chatter brings the best of social networking to work inside a company setting.  It's like your own private company social network that works not just inside your brick and mortar building, but across the country and anywhere your company has set up business.  The best part is that you can stay in touch with what's going on about specific clients, projects, co-workers and files that interest you most through your Chatter connections, much like you do on Facebook and Twitter right now.

But, how exactly can you use Chatter to your advantage?  Easy!

Your Chatter profile in action

Ask the Experts - Let's say you have a question but don't know who in your company would be the right person to ask.  Simply post your question on your Chatter page.  Anyone connected on Chatter within your company will be able to view your question and post an answer for you.

Long Distance or "No Walls" Employees - Companies with several offices can collaborate with one another much more quickly and efficiently, no matter where they are located.  And, if you're a busy real estate professional on the go (a "no walls" employee), co-workers located inside your company's walls can get in touch with you via your smart phone, just like other social networks.  Chatter is a great way to communicate with REALTORS® in other parts of the country to get info on the local real estate market for your clients interested in relocating elsewhere.

File Sharing - We all know that uploading files to send via email can take a long time.  So can downloading them, especially when they are really big.  Plus there is the added hassle of making sure you have the latest program to open the file or if the person you want to share it with is up to date with their software.  Instead, upload it once to your Chatter profile and it's a quick click for anyone you're sharing with to view no matter how big or small the file may be.

Presentation Preparation - In today's "on the go" society, it gets increasingly difficult to physically meet up with your sales team and get a presentation ready together.  Use Chatter to throw ideas back and forth, ask and answer questions, post slides and get valuable feedback from the other members of your real estate team.  This allows you to keep doing the job you're best at, serving your real estate clients.

Keeping it "Hush Hush" - Chatter gives you the option to discuss confidential topics (such as legal and financial issues) in a secure environment without having to have the conversations in person.

Customer Service - Sometimes, a client may have a question that you just don't have the answer to.  Chatter will allow you to send your question into the company universe to get an answer quickly.  Nothing makes a client happier than when you can resolve an issue in a timely and satisfactory way.

Brainstorming - You know how they say two heads are better than one?  Try 10 heads.  Or 20.  Or 100.  Create a focus group within your company to bounce marketing or advertising ideas off one another.

We all know how important social networking can be to a business nowadays.  Why not harness that usefulness into a private company social network to help make your real estate business more successful and efficient?  Create better company connections with Chatter.  You'll be happy you did!
